what could happen if diverse groups of individuals engaged in respectful, thoughtful, face to face conversations? if we disrupted intolerance & unearthed unexpected connections through prompted conversation? if thousands of these micro conversations built the macro groundwork for a more inclusive & democratic society? and if these conversations took place over the most human of all interactions - the common ground of a shared meal?

introducing the democracy dinners

space

a democracy dinner uses food to create space for the grey, with thought-provoking prompts to enable genuine dialogue & debate, guided by relaxed hosts to encourage active engagement... and with every contribution challenging the current narrative of polar opposites which drive people apart.

global

the democracy dinners are global, with each dinner offering a small group of innately curious minds - selected to bring a huge range of opinions, ideas, interests and backgrounds - the opportunity to enjoy informal, respectful discussion (led by prompted talking points) around the subject of democracy…why it’s in peril, what can be done about it and more… all accompanied by delicious food & drink, and an attentive host guiding the evening.

open

the best thing about the dinners is that they can be organized by anyone, anywhere, with any type of food. they can be completely informal in a home, a bar or a cafe, or more formal in a restaurant or private dining space.

regardless of format, we work with every person hosting to provide them with guidance on how to steer the evening, suggested topics, how to capture brilliant ideas, some content for social, and more.
